Bulletin boards, not the most glamorous part of a Resident Assistant's job, but if used correctly, boards can help to engage residents with each other, with campus resources, with policies, with programs, with events, and so much more.
There are many different kinds of bulletin boards you can do with different goals. But I highly encourage that each board you do has a specific goal in mind. For example, if you've noticed a lot of residents skipping classes, remind them how important those classes are by doing an academic focused bulletin board. Or if you are going to put on a program about healthy lifestyles, use a bulletin board to get residents excited about it, providing fun activities and recipes they can do in their dorm room.
Whatever you do for your board, make sure that it is something residents will want to look at. Make it colorful and eye catching so that they don't just blow past it. Add interactive components that allow residents to stop and almost force them to read the boards information.
Here at MSU we are required to change our bulletin boards every 2 weeks, which gives you ample time to prepare each board and make sure it will look nice.
