As freshmen come into a new place and a new school, a lot of times, though we've been making friends all our lives, starting fresh and finding a whole new group of friends in this new life can be very difficult. This board is something that helps to remind students the simple things which make a huge difference in making new friends. Suggestions such as smile, say hello, look up when you're walking, and even a bonus number 11, be yourself, can really help start off some lifelong friendships between residents and ease the burden of finding friends in a new place.
I highly recommend this board at the beginning of the school year, particularly if your floor is mostly freshman. Upperclassmen of course can always use the reminders as well, but they are likely to have a core group of friends established already. This board can of course still be a huge help to the floor in any times when the floor is being stressed on relationships or tensions are running high.
